Our Mission at Andover Therapy Services

Andover Therapy Services provides compassionate, non-judgmental, best practice treatment for individuals. Our mission is to help clients heal and grow. In order to heal, our grief needs to be held. Healing transpires when we allow ourselves to sit with, process and make meaning of our grief, loss and trauma. Feeling seen, heard and valued in our relationship with ourselves and others in an empathic, non judgmental way. We thrive when our values and roles are aligned and we are able to connect with our truest, most authentic selves.

Andover Therapy Services accepts BCBS, Aetna, Optum, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, as well as out of network benefits, and private pay for counseling services.

Our Dedicated Experts, Here to Support You

Katy MacDonald LMHC, PMH-C
Founder of Andover Therapy Services

Katy is a licensed mental health counselor and owner of Andover Therapy Services. Since 2012, Katy has worked in the Boston area with adolescents and adults from marginalized communities, using clinical skills and evidence-based practices to treat a wide range of mental health conditions. In addition to Katy’s general practice, she has experience and a passion for providing specialized treatment to the perinatal population to address mood and anxiety disorders that are encountered in addition to addressing emotional complications that may occur from unexpected challenges during the journey to parenthood, including infertility, grief and loss, birth trauma, and relationship strain, in addition to parent-child attachment difficulties.

Katy uses evidence-based practices from Ego-Parts Work, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure-response prevention, and mindfulness practices, in addition to techniques from positive psychology and dialectical behavioral therapy, to tailor the client’s treatment and help them develop insight to triggers from past relational wounds and internalized distorted beliefs that are contributing to mental health suffering in the present day. In 2023, Katy completed training curriculums (parts 1 & 2) in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy for the perinatal population through The Institute for Creative Mindfulness.

Katy is invested in validating her client’s emotional experiences and offering a safe space for emotional exploration and for new coping skills to develop. Katy says “Together, we will manage your scary thoughts, regulate your emotions, and utilize your strengths to build confidence and get you back to feeling like yourself again.”
